Advertiser Funded Programming

AFP is a form of programme making that allows advertisers to play a part in the show itself, rather than to advertise around it. In recent years, we have and continue to develop series that allow businesses big and small, to attract large audiences to their products and services.

The concept of AFP is currently resurgent in television, as new technological advances force broadcasters to rethink their relationship with advertisers.

A brief history

AFP were the original form of funding programming, with the term ‘soap operas’ taking it’s name from the fact that soap companies would often sponsor original television dramas. This continued until cases of corporate interference, began to damage the integrity of the form, and advertisement breaks were born!

With the rise of TV recording devises, online broadcasting, and in the resurgence of Local TV in the UK, broadcasters are once again looking at how television is made.

At the forefront of this, we have trialled and developed programme formats that allow businesses to attract large audiences, in an honest and entertaining way.
